Avere Systems - Larry Shoemaker

Larry has been working in the enterprise storage industry for over 15 years.   He started as a Storage Systems Administration with Agere in Austin, Texas. Agere was eventually purchased by Lucent Technologies.   After Agere he moved to NetApp where his first position was as the sole onsite engineer for NetApp at the Oracle Austin Data Center.  This environment eventually grew to be the largest single install of NetApp in the world with 450 NetApp controllers and over 14 Petabytes of storage on the floor (2007).

Larry moved on to Avere Systems in April of 2011 as their first employee in the UK.   Avere Systems brings to the market NAS Optimisation solutions designed specifically to scale performance and capacity separately and take advantage of new Flash-based storage media using real-time tiering. 

Larry holds a B.A. from Towson University.
